FAQ general

Are menstrual cups, reusable pads and menstrual panties better than tampons and disposable pads?

The most important question is what feels most comfortable and safe for you personally.
We can tell you that studies have shown that 70% of women who use cups, reusable pads and menstrual panties experience fewer cramps during their periods.

In addition, using the cup, through a total of 42 studies with 3319 participants, shows that no undesirable effects and changes in your vaginal flora occur, see more here .

By using our cup, pads and panties, you avoid chemicals being transferred to your body through sweat or directly through the vagina. Remember that tampons absorb your natural secretions, which can create dryness and infections. This is one of the reasons to use reusable and safe products month after month for several years.

Who can use a menstrual cup? What about pads and period panties?

The cup is perfect for women with heavy bleeding, but can be used by anyone, even if you are a virgin. If you need extra protection, it can be used together with a reusable pad or menstrual panties.

All of these products are good choices if you are concerned about the waste produced by hygiene products, but also if you want to expose your body to fewer chemicals.

Cups, reusable pads and menstrual panties are cheaper solutions compared to buying disposable products every month. You can buy them once and use them for a minimum of 2 years.

How much money will I save with reusble menstrual products?

35 years x 12 menstrual cycles x 5 days on average = 2,100 menstrual days / 5 years and 8 months of continuous menstruation – crazy, right?
4 menstrual products per day x 2,100 days = 8,400 menstrual products.
At an average cost of €4.50 per pack of pads, that’s €4.50 x 8,400 pads = €37,800 over a lifetime.

FEMI.EKO®'S PERIOD UNDERWEAR
In 35 years, you would need to replace your period underwear about 7 times. Let’s assume you buy 6 pairs each time:
7 x 6 = 42 pairs of period underwear over a lifetime.
At a cost of €24 per pair, that’s 24 € x 42 pairs = €1,008 over a lifetime.

Are there any odors I should be concerned about?

The cup will prevent the menstrual blood from coming into contact with air, which prevents bacteria from developing bothersome odors.

Sanitary napkins and menstrual panties are made of a safe material that blocks odors. However, blood will always have a special smell. We believe that smells are normal and OK and we want to encourage you to accept your body as it is perfect, imperfect.

Very important: our products are not sprayed and no chemicals are used to prevent odors. You should not spray your products with perfume as it is unhealthy for your intimate area.

Is Femi.Eko also committed to social sustainability?

Yes.

First of all, we all participate positively in the protection of the planet by buying sustainable products that are plastic-free and produce less waste from hygiene products.

Caring for the planet is not just a statement, that's why we have a collaboration with Trees For the Future (Link to the page for Tree for the future) to plant trees and create local farms, while giving a better impact on the air, the land and the families. The majority of the farms are owned by women and we are happy to give them a bit of value in their lives.

We also collaborate with www.bedresyntilafrika.dk in the fight against menstrual poverty in Africa by sponsoring menstrual cups, reusable pads and menstrual underwear in an educational program for women.
